The MC12G and MC12T are highly integrated, dual-channel capacitive sensing chips designed for precise measurement of minute capacitance changes. Utilizing a very high frequency (10-100MHz) resonant excitation and digital signal processing, these chips offer a high resolution of up to 0.5fF. They feature a fully digital design with I2C communication up to 1MHz, an integrated low-noise LDO for wide input voltage compatibility, and an on-chip temperature sensor for compensation. The LC resonant method provides better electric field penetration compared to traditional RC oscillators. The MC12T offers a compact SOP8 package for cost-effective solutions, while the MC12G comes in a small QFN16 package with more comprehensive internal control. These chips are suitable for a wide range of applications including liquid level sensing, proximity detection, and touch sensing in smart home appliances, automotive systems, and industrial monitoring.
